To protect resale value, investment-grade wine should always be stored "in bond". This means in a third-party UK government approved bonded warehouse.
These warehouses ensure that temperature, light and humidity are controlled. It also means that VAT and Duty are suspended for as long as the wines are held in bond, as it is deemed as having not passed through customs.
WineFi has a preferential deal with Coterie Vaults, a purpose-built storage facility for fine wine located in Suffolk, UK. Coterie Vaults is a fully-owned subsidiary of Coterie Holdings.
We are charged Β£0.95 GBP per bottle, per annum for storage and insurance. This preferential rate allows us to pass savings onto you and your clients.
Upon acquiring assets through WineFi, we will set up a clearly-labelled sub-account in your name. You will be able to inspect and audit the assets should you so choose, and verify the condition of the assets with a third-party.
Wines are insured at full value.
All WineFi storage partners adhere to the following guidelines:
Temperature controlled between 11 to 14Β°. Fluctuations in temperature may cause the cork to expand and contract, letting air into the bottle and damaging the wine.
Humidity maintained between 75% - 85%. A humid environment keeps corks moist, and helps slow down evaporation.
Light and Vibration. Light speeds up the aging process of wine, so our partners use LED lights on sensors, so the wines spend most of the time in the dark. Small vibrations can also disturb a wineβs sediment, increasing chemical reactions and the ageing process as well as contributing to problems like dropped corks, where a wine has previously been poorly cellared. Our partners have "marble-like" polished floors and bespoke, uniquely designed handling vehicles to reduce vibration as much as possible.
